What virus spyware etc package should I get when my sub runs out?

Question by Mouse: What virus spyware etc package should I get when my sub runs out?
I have norton, though I hear its horrible. Bah humbug, well, what should I try? I would prefer it if it was an all-in-one, and love it if you could buy it in a store.

Yes, Norton is a pain. Upgrade to McAfee or Sophos.

You should have one virus protection program and at least 2 spyware/adware programs installed on your computer.

if i were you i won’t buy any anti virus/ antispyware products.
the best way I think its to use deep freeze
deep freeze is a program that has the ability to freeze one of your partition so that when you restart your computer, what ever happened before (such as virus infection, spyware, malware etc) gets delete upon the restart of your computer.
this also will cause you to lose files and word documents that you have save before, so if you decide to use deepfreeze, make a new partition and what ever work that you need, you can save it there
as you may have already experience ALL anti virus or antispyware products slow down your computer by a certain % (norton = about 20 mcfee=15% etc)

I used grisoft AVG for over 3 years and never got a virus, trojan or any other infections. I have Nortons also, I never like it before but decited to use it since it were already preloaded on my computer using window vista, I just bought the full version that protect 3 computers and I bought it because it were already on my computer. My choice is AVG and next year I just might go back with it. (http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download-fre) by clicking on this link it will take you to the site. ad far as the adware/spyware I would try these, as they have gotten so good reports. (http://www.adaware.com) also get a good spyware. Window Defender or Spybot.

    Hello ,
All-in-ones are not free . Symantec Norton leads the pack . You may see the suites features and read about their duties . No need to pay for the CD ,, save the download and download on-line , be sure to run a Full Sysyem Scan after the install . Norton is easy to learn all the help is within the software itself in a read only text , nice and quick to . People that complain about Norton slowing down a PC . Many users probably have old PCs and are not aware that Norton uses less memory to run it than it had in 2006 . Also , the new PCs have Dual core Processors . Users that have the new PCs know very well Full package Anti-Virus Suites are the way to go for best protection and user friendly products such as Symanrec > http://www.symantec.com/norton/products/overview.jsp?pcid=is&pvid=nis2008 . Start a habit with free stuff and you get to manualy check for Intrusions and updates and when you need assitance … you will wait for it and maybe get it . Norton has Live chat help and experts 24/7 and all features needed to run a PC and surf the NET freely and safely for $59.99 USD . I am on my 5th year straight with Symantecs Norton running on several PCs , wireless and with wireless printers .

Well you could try something like macrovirus. It’s lite, and doesn’t take up much drive space.
