Question by cindy s: My computer keeps giving me an infected with spyware message?
Just a couple of days ago, my computer started giving me this pop up saying it was infected with spyware. I ran two different spyware programs to get rid of it, but it still keeps coming up. There is an exclamation point that keeps coming up in yellow in my tool bar at the bottom of my screen. It is driving me nuts. Any suggestions on how to get rid of it?

buy a new computer, yours is done for!

Stop looking at porn
install an antivirus, norton is a good one, it comes with antispyware stuff.
panda, big no-no.
take it to geek squad..if not your PC will wind up not working anymore
smitFraudFix is what you need
Download Adaware 2007. Spybot Search and Destroy. A good registry cleaner and CC cleaner.
All should be free. Run them in that order and make sure to download all the updated definitions first. That should clear it up.
That is the best course of action….whoever thumbed me down doesn’t know what they’re talking about.
And if that doesn’t work e-mail me for more options.
Its driving me nuts too!! i got the same problem ! ugh!!
You have spyware.
Phony pop-up alert boxes, background changes or “balloon” pop-ups from the tray (by the clock) about a trojan, virus or spyware infection and the attempt to sell you some useless software to “fix” the problem usually indicates that your computer has a Smitfraud infection. DO NOT DOWNLOAD OR BUY THE PRODUCT THEY TRY TO SELL YOU! IT IS SCAM. It is really extortion-ware, first they infect your machine, then they want $$$ to remove it.
Sounds like your computer may have a variant of this ubiquitous Smitfraud infection.
Almost all “general purpose”,”all-in one” spyware and virus removal programs such as AVG Anti-virus, Norton, McAfee or Spybot S & D cannot remove it, as you may have already found out.
Free specialised Smitfraud removal tool is here (SmitfraudFix)
http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix_En.php
After running SmitfraudFix, to clean-up any remaining infection traces, scan for trojans,
and spyware and remove (free online scan, no downloaded program) with Ewido Online Scanner ( now known as AVG Anti-Spyware). This is NOT the same as AVG Anti-Virus. Press “Online Scan” on the right.

Good luck.
check what kinda bug u have n remove it from registry
format your computer wiyh your operative system actualy is the good opcion
Go into my computer and delete system 32
i downloaded mcafee for free from aol doesnt cost anything and checks for viruses and spyware.I also use yahoo anti-spy
system restore… certain spyware can stop anti-spyware programs from working… restore as fast as you ccan so no more gets in
Do you have vista or Xp? What does the Error message state?
Try going into your Task Manager (Press alt+ctrl+delete at the same time) And tell me if you see a process running called cmmd.exe or anything that looks like the word comand.
Well I am not sure what spyware you ran, but my computer was having the same problem and I downloaded the McAfee security center and the problem stopped, if you haven’t already tried it you should, not to mention if you set up(or have) an email account with AOL.com, you will be able to download it for free.
Update your anti-virus software and run a full system scan. If you know the name of this pesky little bug you can get the removal tool at this site below. Here is the threat explorer site from Symantec, the maker of Norton Anti-virus.
http://www.symantec.com/norton/security_response/threatexplorer/index.jsp
It has all the latest threats listed and for each one there is a removal tool listed. Click on the name of your virus, trojan, etc and then click th tab for removal.
The answer is simple enough. You have a virus.
Virus don’t just mess up, they can also mess with you by saying it’s one thing when it is really another. What kind of virus it is… not really sure, too many to count. Make sure you get a good antivirus like AVG.
the best software is spyware doctor, you can get it at http://pack.google.com
Restart your computer, repeatably press f8 until you get a screen asking what mode you want to start in, Start in safe mode. Run your scan again. I had this same problem I had to completely uninstall internet explorer, I have recently switched to moxilla, Exelent program so far. In safe mode , if neither one works then , you will have to search for anything you have downloaded lately and delete it. The last option is the most extreme, Back up your files, Use the windows disk, or if your hard drives partioned with recovery, use it. Use destructive recover, this will restore your comp to factor. Note files on your back up should be scanned before you return them to your computer.
computers dont give that message
its a scam, to get you to push a button and download something in
dont do it.
instead go get “Spybot”.
Its free.
It wont hurt you.
Run it 2 or 3 times a week (depending on how MUCH youre online picking up bugs).
Do this-instead of using Windows DEFENDER (OR McAfee)
because those 2 are provided BY the very people who GIVE you the cookies.
(cookies=spyware)
these arent computer wrecking things/they’re just little invader programs that monitor your tastes and report back to the people who sell things WHICH kinds of things theyd have the most luck trying to sell to you.
But you DONT want to let the cookies stay in, because they build up, and your computer will start to run slow.
If you “clean” and “defragment” (look in the control panel for those, they came with computer) regularly, too —>the clean function your computer has edspecially , it removes these cookies also.
BOTTOM LINE the alert you’re getting IS a cookie!
Remove it.
